Work
At the time of writing (February 2009), this page is a little sparse because I've been doing rather more work on IT Consultancy (that I can't show here) than I had thought.
Save the Rhino International website
Save the Rhino was my first new client after leaving employment (apart from my ongoing work for Higham Group). I did the design, which Centrepoint implemented, using their CMS. (Because of having to fit in Centrepoint's CMS the site isn't exactly what I designed but it's pretty close.)
Save The Rhino wanted a simple design which would allow people to find content easily and would be easy for them to maintain. The Centrepoint software also links their customer database and their merchandise database directly to the web site, so members can edit their personal details and visitors to the site can purchase a wide range of rhino-related products.
The part I think worked out best is the column of chunky buttons down the right-hand side of each page, which Cathy named 'hot-buttons'. They're based on the same colour scheme as the various sections of the site and use the Gill Sans Ultra Bold font of the logo.
Dunnett Shaw website
Strictly speaking, The current Dunnett Shaw website was designed by Dunnett Shaw and not Waterfield Consulting as I wrote it when I worked there. Anyway it's the first site I wrote after finding out about the XHTML/CSS webs standards way of doing websites properly, so I'm keeping it on this list for old time's sake and to increase the pitiful number of entries on this page.
Coming Soon
My spare time project: A timesheet, billing and client management
system, written in PHP and MySQL, so I can learn these properly and
expand from just using Microsoft products and so that I can play around
with AJAX. I should be able to put up a demonstration version of it
in Q3, 2009 sometime.
